The Film & Video Institute (IAC) supports film and video makers, and affiliated clubs throughout the UK and overseas.
They provide expert advice on all movie and AV matters, technical and creative, simple or complicated and publish a bi-monthly magazine. Regional newsletters are also published. Their unique copyright clearance scheme covers music used in non-commercial movies and AV sequences through inexpensive licences.
Their International Amateur Film Competition attracts movies from around the world and their Film and Video Library holds the world's largest collection of outstanding amateur movies. They also hold archive material going back to the earliest days.
Recordings of music, often composed specially for movies and not publicly available, from IAC music experts.
The membership card confirms amateur status and can be very helpful with obtaining permission to film in otherwise inaccessible places, at home or abroad.
